Section C: Course Selection Worksheets
For each course area that is chosen, a double-page worksheet is printed, each contains a large amount of valuable information for you to consider.
On the left-hand page of the worksheet, the top section contains an outline of the course area, graduate opportunities, and entrance requirements.
Tables I and II list the courses available and where to study them. The red letters, abcd, link courses in Table I with universities and colleges in Table II.
Table IV on the right-hand page of the worksheet provides brief descriptions for most of the courses in Table I and is again linked using the red letters.
Linking Tables I, II and IV
The following example* demonstrates how the red letters link the courses, institutions and descriptions together.
As you can see, 'a Nursing' degrees in Table I are available where the red 'a' appears in Table II. This shows Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College offers a course in Nursing. The course description in Table IV which has 'a' in front of it refers to the Nursing course in Table I.
Overall Match
How well do you match other requirements of each course area? The bar graphs go some way to help you resolve this question. They indicate your main interest score for the course area at the top, together with your scores for five other important supporting interest areas.
The bars follow the same colour coding as traffic lights; green - a high score - go ahead; amber - a moderate score - take care; red - a low score - stop and investigate carefully.
In the example, the red bar indicates a low score for 'Biology Related', warning that you should think carefully about doing a course where biology could play a central role.
Your Overall Match score can be as important as your Interest Level because it draws your attention to likely drawbacks.
More Information
Underneath the course descriptions in Table IV, there are sections listing further sources of information for finding out more about any of the courses which attract you. The web in particular can provide a wealth of additional information.
* Note that this is only an example and not a true indication of the courses on offer at these institutions.
